Already in the 1950s, the Cagna family was dedicated to trout farming thanks to the passion of the grandfather Pierino.
Many were the customers of the farm, who suggested him to open a small restaurant to eat the trouts caught: from there the idea was born … his son Renzo built the Hotel Ristorante San Carlo, with the help of the whole family, starting work in 1958 and inaugurating the hotel in 1960.
His entrepreneurial skills and tenacity, supported by his wife Susanna in managing the kitchen, have made the business one of the most flourishing in the Tanaro Valley.
His passion has been passed on to his daughters and grandchildren, who still manage and dedicate their lives to the hotel.
